About Augmented Media Literacy

Augmented Media Literacy started as a project in 2018, led by an international team of Finnish and US-based innovators and inspired by Finland's standards and media culture. In an increasingly complex media world, the goal is to help people build a heightened level of media literacy skills and provide a new pathway to trust news reporting globally. Its Chrome extension helps users see through media by identifying fundamental metrics, including different types of clickbait, emotional word density, source attribution, and viewpoint diversity. The tool makes it easy to compare these standards directly in whatever coverage a person is reading, so people can consume news with a clear understanding of the way the content has been made and a clearer view of its intent.
